Ratna Goenardi admits she’s mad for making cakes. A trained graphic artist, she’s proved she can work magic with fondant. “My mom baked from scratch when I was little,” says Goenardi, 32. “I thought she was cheap.” Now, armed with a basic cake recipe (she sticks with chocolate, vanilla and lemon and is experimenting with orange), she’s perfected piping after taking lessons from a friend’s mom and is a whiz with fondant. Take a little fondant icing, mix in some clever design, and, presto, you have a TCU-centric confection. Flash your Horned Frog pride at your next party in a few easy steps. Bake cupcakes and allow them to cool, then top with a layer of purple fondant icing. (You can make your own fondant, or order it at online baking sites.)
